Embodiment Construction

[0024] Lithium-ion battery 10 includes a plurality of battery cells 12 which form a cell group 14 . A head member 16 is provided on the cell group 14 . The battery cells 12 (four battery cells are shown here as an example) have the shape of a flat cuboid, the narrow sides of which lie on the base plate 18 of the battery 10 . In alternative exemplary embodiments, the cell pack 14 can obviously have more battery cells 12 . The battery cells 12 of the cell group 14 are pressed against one another by means of the wedges 20 , 22 , a defined force acting on the mutually abutting sides of the battery cells 12 , which binds the cell group 14 tightly.

[0025] During the production of the battery 10 , the cell pack 14 is subjected to a defined clamping force by means of a clamping device (not shown), which clamps the battery cells 12 in a fixed manner. A gap is designed between the U-shaped bow 24 of the straddle-clamp cell group 14 and the side plates 26 , 28 surrounding the cell gr...

Abstract

The invention relates to a battery (10) having a plurality of battery cells (12) which form a cell stack (14) which stands on a base plate (18) of the battery (10). At least one cotter (20, 22) serves to brace the battery cells (12) against one another. The at least one cotter (20, 22) and the cell stack (14) are secured in their position relative to the base plate (18) by means of at least one clip (24) which is fitted to the base plate (18). Manufacturing tolerances of the battery cells (12) can be compensated for by the at least one cotter (20, 22), and the clip (24) secures both the cotter (20, 22) and the cell stack (14).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a battery with a plurality of battery cells forming a cell group which rests against a base plate of the battery. The battery has at least one wedge for clamping the battery cells together. Background technique [0002] Lithium-ion batteries can be used as energy stores in motor vehicles, which comprise a plurality of battery cells generally having the shape of a flat cuboid, which are clamped together with a defined force. This is important for safety during battery operation and with regard to the service life of the battery. In this case, a force is exerted on the cell group and thus overcomes the mechanical deformation caused by the internal pressure present in the battery cells. [0003] Due to manufacturing tolerances and due to the internal pressure of the battery cells which fluctuate as a function of the state of charge, ambient temperature and aging, variations in the thickness of the cell pack may occur. The monol...
