A hot backup method based on the TFTP comprises the steps as follows: one backup device is used for backuping more than one main device, and a backup process is completed on the basis of the TFTP; the main device writes to-be-backuped data into a file, then the file is transferred to the backup device, and the backup device stores received data in a temporary file; whether transmission is successful and whether the verification file is received correctly are judged; and if the transmission is successful and the file is received correctly, the original backup file is replaced with the temporary file, otherwise, error information is sent to the main device. According to the method, data backup is completed by using files; and the backup device can be guaranteed to upload effective backup data at any time, influences of backup on normal operation are reduced, the high efficiency and the reliability of the backup are effectively improved, and the purpose of un-interruption of device service is achieved.
