Abstract

Disclosed are a method and a device for stateful conversion between IPv4 address and IPv6 address. The method includes, after receiving an IP message, searching corresponding connection entry in a connection track table according to quintuple which includes IP address and ports of first protocol and is constructed by information of the IP message, and generating new connection entry if searching no records in the connection track table; performing cross-protocol-stack address conversion to the IP message and converting the IP address and port of the first protocol into the IP address and port of a second protocol; constructing quintuple of the IP message in the other direction according to the IP address and port of the second protocol, and writing the quintuple constructed by the IP message and the quintuple in the other direction into the new connection entry and mounting the same to the connection track table. The first protocol and the second protocol are respectively one of the IPv4 protocol and the IPv6 protocol and are different from each other. The invention further provides the corresponding device. By the method and the device, cross-protocol-stack address conversion with high search efficiency can be achieved while storage space can be saved.
