[0086] figure 1 The binaural hearing system 10 is shown worn at the head 12 of a user 14 . The binaural hearing system 10 comprises a first hearing instrument 16 and a second hearing instrument 18 which are respectively worn at the left ear 20 and the right ear 22 of the head 12 of the user 14 .

[0087] exist figure 1 , an exemplary sound situation is shown in which a target sound source 24 provides sound 26, such as a person speaking, while noise sources 28a, 28b, 28c, 28d and 28e provide noise. The binaural hearing system 10 is configured to divide the environment around the user 14 into two subspaces around the listening direction 32 and the noise direction 30 . The subspace around noise direction 30 includes noise sources 28a-28e. The subspace around listening direction 32 includes target sound sources 24 that provide sounds 26 that user 14 wants to hear. Sound received by the hearing instruments 16 and 18 of the binaural hearing system 10 from the subspace around the...

Abstract

The present disclosure regards a binaural hearing system and method. The hearing system comprises two hearing instruments. Each hearing instrument comprises input convertors for receiving sound signals from the environment and generating electrical signals, and singal processing units. One of the singal processing units comprises a frequency filter unit which comprises a frequency filter for generating a high-frequency portion and a low-frequency portion of one of the electrical signals, and the other one of the signal processing unit comprises a frequency filter unit which comprises a frequency filter for generating a low-frequency portion of another electrical signal. One of the hearing instrument comprises an emitter unit configured to transmit the high-freuqency portion, and the other one of the hearing instruments comprises a receiver unit configured to receive the high-frequency portion. One of the signal processing units comprises a processing unit for processing the high-frequency portion before emission or processing the high-frequency portion after the high-frequency portion is received, and the other one of the signal processing units is configured to generate electrical signals after processing from a combination of the low-frequency portion and the high-frequency portion or a combination of the low-frequency portion and the high-frequency portion after the processing.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a binaural hearing system comprising two hearing instruments, each configured to be worn on either side of a user's head. The invention also relates to a method of generating binaural electrical signals. Background technique [0002] Hearing instruments are used to improve or enable auditory perception, ie hearing. Hearing aids are a group of hearing instruments that are in common use today and help the hearing impaired to improve their ability to hear. A hearing aid typically includes a microphone, an output transducer, circuitry, and a power source such as a battery. The output transducer may be, for example, a speaker (also known as a receiver), a vibrator, an electrode array configured to be implanted at the cochlea, or any other instrument capable of generating sound signals from electrical signals. The microphone receives sound signals from the environment and generates electrical signals from the received soun...
