The method comprises the steps that the fingerprint identification device can collect a fingerprint image for a target object; a target fingerprint line is determined from the fingerprint image, and whether the target fingerprint line has sweat gland holes is determined; if the sweat gland holes exist, the fingerprint of the target object is determined as a fingerprint living body; if the sweat gland holes do not exist, the fingerprint of the target object is determined as a fingerprint prosthesis. According to the invention, the fingerprint identification device can identify the sweat gland holes in the fingerprint image, and identifies whether the fingerprint is genuine or sham based on the presence or absence of the sweat gland holes in the fingerprint image; genuine or sham fingerprints can be accurately identified; and the security of fingerprint identification is improved.
