Embodiment Construction

[0035] figure 1 is a conceptual diagram illustrating an example cardiac system 10 implanted in a patient 12 . Cardiac system 10 includes a subcutaneous ICD system 14 implanted in the chest cavity and above the sternum and a leadless cardiac pacing device 16 implanted in the heart 18 of a patient 12 . As will be described in further detail herein, subcutaneous ICD system 14 is configured to detect pacing therapy delivered by pacing device 16 by analyzing sensed electrical signals and, in response to detecting pacing therapy, modify the sensing and / or Tachyarrhythmia detection.

[0036] Subcutaneous ICD system 14 includes an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) 20 connected to at least one implantable cardiac defibrillation lead 22 . figure 1 The ICD 20 is implanted subcutaneously on the left side of the patient 12 under the skin but over the chest cavity. The defibrillation leads 22 extend subcutaneously from the ICD 20 toward the center of the torso of the patient 12 und...

Abstract

An implantable medical device includes a sensing module configured to obtain electrical signals from one or more electrodes, and a control module configured to process the electrical signals from the sensing module according to a tachyarrhythmia detection algorithm to monitor tachyarrhythmia. The control module detects initiation of a pacing string delivered by the second implantable medical device, determines a type of the detected pacing string, and modifies a tachyarrhythmia detection algorithm based on the detected type of pacing string.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application relates to medical devices, and more particularly, to implantable medical devices configured to detect and treat cardiac arrhythmias. Background technique [0002] ICD systems can be used to deliver high energy cardioversion or defibrillation shocks to a patient's heart to terminate detected tachyarrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular fibrillation. Cardioversion shocks are usually delivered synchronously with the detected R-wave when the fibrillation detection criteria are met. A defibrillation shock is typically delivered when fibrillation criteria are met, and the R-wave cannot be discerned from the signal sensed by the ICD. In addition, ICD systems can deliver high-energy cardioversion or defibrillation shocks to terminate certain types of ventricular tachycardia (VT). [0003] An ICD system typically includes an ICD coupled to one or more electrical leads placed within or attached to the heart. The electr...
