Abstract

The invention discloses an insulating layer of an aerial insulated line of an insulator capable of being used as a discharge medium. The insulating layer comprises a silicone rubber layer, an epoxy cylinder and a gap assembly, wherein the silicone rubber layer coats the outer side surface of the epoxy cylinder; the epoxy cylinder sleeves the outer side of the gap assembly; the gap assembly is a nonlinear resistor; and electrodes are arranged at the top and the bottom of the gap assembly separately. The insulating layer of the aerial insulated line of the insulator capable of being used as the discharge medium can be arranged between an upper armor clamp and a lower armor clamp of an insulator assembly, and are integrally molded and assembled together with the insulator. The insulating layer plays a normal function of a common insulator when no lightning strike risk occurs; once the lightning strike risk occurs, the nonlinear resistor is conducted through instantly loading overvoltage to the insulator; and current flows through the nonlinear resistor through the electrodes at two sides of the gap assembly and is guided to a ground wire, so that the risk of a dangerous accident due to the fact that a whole power grid is hit by overvoltage is reduced.
