Abstract

The method for controlling the fan is applied in a baseboard management controller (BMC) and comprises the steps that a temperature of the environment where the server is located is obtained; the environment temperature and a high temperature warning value is compared, wherein if an environment temperature value is larger than the high temperature warning value, a fan weight strategy corresponding to whole server cooling is called from a preset first database, and if the environment temperature value is smaller thanthe high temperature warning value, according to an obtained device temperature of a target power device in the server, a fan weight strategy corresponding to cooling of the target power device is called from a preset second database. According to the method and the device, according to change of the temperature of the environment where the server is located and the device temperature of the target power device, the fan weight is dynamically adjusted, so that the cooling requirements under different running working conditions are met, and the energy saving capacity and the adaptive capabilityto the environment of the server reach optimal states.
