Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a distribution method of an IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6), an SMF (Session Management Function), and a communication system, and relates to the technicalfield of communication. An IPv6 address prefix is timely updated according to a position change condition of UE (User Equipment) so as to achieve refined control of the UE. The method comprises the steps of: after the UE switches a RAN (Radio Access Network) node of a wireless access network, receiving current position information, a data network name and an access type of the UE sent by an AMF by the SMF; if determining that the current position information is not consistent to the position information prior to the UE switching the RAN node, generating a new IPv6 address prefix according tothe current position information, the data network name and the access type of the UE; sending a first IPv6 router annunciation RA message to the UE through a UPF (User Port Function) by the SMF; sending a second IPv6 router annunciation RA message to the UE through the UPF; and releasing the IPv6 address prefix prior to the UE switching the RAN node by the SMF after the valid time.
