Abstract

A washing machine (1) comprises a casing (2); a washing tub (3) that is disposed in the casing (2), and the washing tub can be closed by a porthole door (4); a basket (5) that is used for containing laundry to be washed in the washing tub (3); a water loading system (20) that can be connected to the water pipe and is in communication with the washing tub (3); a dispensing system (17) that is usedfor dispensing the laundry treating agent, and the dispensing system has a plurality of reservoirs (18) in a porthole door (4) sized to accommodate a sufficient amount of treatment agent for multiplewash cycles, wherein the dispensing system (17) comprises a metering pump (36), and the reservoir (18) is connected to the inlet of the metering pump (36) via one or more delivery conduits (44, 44') and one or more selecting valves (45). The selecting valve is used to selectively open and interrupt the fluid connection between each of the reservoirs (18) and the metering pump (36).
