Embodiment Construction

[0021] The development of different embodiments of the present invention was motivated by the requirement that images from different sources must be displayed simultaneously on a single screen or using a single display panel in the context of immersive interactive computer simulations. Some devices may require multiple video inputs and provide multiple options, such as merging / adding them together, which may also require synchronizing different inputs. More specifically, in the context of immersive interactive computer simulations, a large screen (single screen) display system is provided to one or more trainees in an interactive simulation station.

[0022] In the context of immersive interactive computer simulations, images to be displayed on the display system are also typically calculated using different computers, each equipped with one or more hardware video cards. To avoid visual artifacts, the output of the video card needs to be synchronized. One solution is to affec...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to synchronizing video output to a single display frequency and provides a method and system for synchronizing video output to a single display frequency, including providing for synchronization between two or more image generation processors at a single display frequency Shared reference signal for video output, each image generation processor drives at least one independent video card. Each video card supports on-the-fly image refresh rate adaptation based on the responsiveness of the corresponding image generation processor. The method also includes: at each image generation processor, artificially affecting the image generation rendering speed in real time during the next frame generation process to trigger on-the-fly image refresh rate adaptation by the video card of the image generation processor to for the video card of the image generation processor to predictively schedule the refresh of the image corresponding to the next frame, thereby aligning the refresh of the image with the shared reference signal, while avoiding manipulation of the video card by the image generator processor storage register.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the output synchronization of video cards, and more particularly, to the output synchronization of a software-controlled video card. Background technique [0002] Sometimes it is necessary to display images from different sources at the same time. For example, synchronizing the projectors can avoid visual artifacts when projecting images from different projectors on a single screen. Likewise, the different signals provided to a single projector or display are synchronized to display correctly together. However, synchronizing signals from different sources often requires complex solutions based primarily on dedicated hardware components. [0003] The present invention aims to simplify the synchronization of images from different sources. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0004] The purpose of this section is to briefly introduce some concepts that will be further described in the "Detailed Examples" section below. This se...
