The method comprises the steps of acquiring N selectable installation nodes of a series compensation device in a power distribution network of the series compensation device to be installed, wherein the N is greater than or equal to 2; establishing N first network models of the power distribution network, wherein the N first network models are obtained after installing the series compensation devices at the N selectable installation nodes one by one; calculating a node voltage of each selectable installation node according to the first network models; and according to the node voltage, selecting one selectable installation node satisfying a preset condition as a target installation position of the series compensation device from the N selectable installation nodes, wherein the preset condition is that the node voltage is within a preset voltage rangeand an inductive reactance is minimum, and the preset voltage range and a voltage level of a power transmission line where the selectable installation nodes are located have a preset corresponding relationship.
