Abstract

A milking system comprises one or more milking devices and a control unit. The system is provided with a plurality of milking cups, a first milk jug for receiving a milking volume, a first pumping device for pumping the milking volume, a milking jug for receiving a milking volume from the first milking jug A second milk jug, and second pumping means for pumping at least a portion of the expressed milk volume, and at least one storage tank for storing at least a portion of the expressed milk volume. The milking volume pumped by the second pumping device is smaller than the milking volume pumped by the first pumping device. Thus, most of the milk moves under low mechanical load and there is very little mixing with air. Thus the milk quality is improved.
