Problems solved by technology

Although dedicated resources (UE-specific) are available for PUR, there are some issues, for example, how radio resources are allocated to UEs in RRC_IDLE mode such that the eNB is no longer even aware of the UEs in the cell, how to configure this feature, how to ensure Not wasting radio resources, how to provide adaptive solutions, etc.

Embodiment Construction

[0033] figure 1 A method performed by a wireless device is depicted in accordance with certain embodiments. The method includes, wherein during a connected mode in which the wireless device has a connection with a wireless communication network, receiving control signaling indicating a first preconfigured resource configuration to configure the first preconfigured resources (block 100). The method also includes sending or receiving user data using the first preconfigured resource (block 110).

[0034] In some embodiments, the wireless device may send a request for configuration of preconfigured uplink resources in an uplink message (block 90). In some embodiments, the request may be a 1-bit field. In some embodiments, the request may include one or more preference parameters for preconfiguring uplink resources.

[0035] In some embodiments, the method may include: after using the first preconfigured resource, in conjunction with or based on the use of the first preconfigure...

Abstract

Techniques for facilitating dedicated transmissions over preconfigured uplink resources are provided. Embodiments include techniques to configure subsequent PUR resource utilization (e.g., one-at-a-time basis or on a periodic basis), changes to EDT signaling to allow functioning with PUR, etc. An example method performed by a wireless device configured for use in a wireless communication network includes transmitting (90), in an uplink message, a request for a configuration of preconfigured uplink resources. The method further includes the step of receiving (100), during a connected mode in which the wireless device has a connection with the wireless communication network, control signaling indicating a first preconfigured resource configuration that configures a first preconfigured resource. The method also includes the step of transmitting or receiving (120) user data using the first preconfigured resource.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to the use of preconfigured resources on radio links, and more particularly to techniques for configuring such preconfigured resources. Background technique [0002] In 3GPP, there is a lot of work on specifying technologies to cover Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and / or Internet of Things (IoT) related use cases. Recent work on 3GPP Releases 13, 14 and 15 includes enhancements to support Machine Type Communication (MTC) with new UE categories (Cat-M1, Cat-M2), support for reductions of up to 6 and 24 Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs) bandwidth, and Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) UEs that provide new radio interfaces (and UE categories Cat-NB1 and Cat-NB2). [0003] The LTE enhancements for MTC introduced in 3GPP Releases 13, 14, and 15 may be referred to as "eMTC," including (but not limited to) support for bandwidth-constrained UEs, Cat-M1, and support for coverage enhancements. This is to separate the discu...
