[0114] METHODS: Patients with non-metastatic breast cancer receiving TAC (taxotere, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide) received concurrent doses of 10 (n=15), 20 (n=15) or 30 (n=12 ) mg / ㎡ of Plinabulin. Hematological safety assessments were performed before dosing and on days 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15 after plinabulin administration according to a pre-specified protocol. A single dose of plinabulin was given on the first day of the 21-day cycle. Hematological evaluation unexpectedly found that plinabulin increased haptoglobin levels.

Disclosed herein are methods of reducing, preventing or ameliorating tissue iron excess and iron disorders associated with plasma haptoglobin consumption / reduction in the event of increased plasma hemoglobin levels due to hemolysis.
