[0098] components

[0099] The compressibility of compositions 1, 2 and 3 according to the invention is significantly lower than that of comparative powder A. Additionally, even with significantly lower amounts of STP such as in composition 1, significantly improved properties were found. Embodiment 4 and comparative example B

Abstract

A particulate detergent composition having a bulk density of 700 g / l or less and containing at least 10 wt.% (preferably at least 15 wt.%) of organic detergent surfactant comprises a base powder composed of at least two granular components. Less than 80 % by weight, preferably less than 66 % by weight, of the base powder has a compressibility (measured at 20-25 DEG C and about 40 % relative humidity) of 17 % or more. Preferably one of the components of the base powder is a granule containing a high level (at least 60 wt.%) of anionic surfactant.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to medium to low bulk density granular detergent compositions. Background of the invention [0002] Medium to low bulk density granular detergent compositions can be prepared by the spray drying process or by agglomeration in a low shear mixer such as a fluidized bed or pan granulator, which can be used as a " base powder". In the spray-drying process, a slurry of ingredients such as anionic detergent actives, builders and optionally nonionic detergent actives is prepared and then sprayed in pulverized form into high temperature cis- or counter-air The resulting granular composition can be used directly as a detergent composition, or other components can be post-dosed, such as heat or moisture sensitive components, to provide a complete powder composition. In practice, the bulk density of the spray-dried granules was found to be below 600 g / l, but post-dosing components can increase the bulk density of the composition...
