Problems solved by technology

However, if only the radius of the laser beam is reduced, the amount of light used for recording / reading data is also reduced, and the influence due to damage or dust occurring on the surface of the disc will be relatively increased
That is, the error occurrence rate of recording / reading data is increased

Embodiment Construction

[0033] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0034] 1A and 1B are block diagrams of a data recording apparatus according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 1A , the data recording apparatus includes: an error correction code (ECC) encoding section 1 , a modulation section 3 and a recording section 5 . The ECC encoding section 1 includes: an ECC encoder 1 and an interleaver 12 . The interleaver 12 includes a partition section 121 , a data extraction section 122 and a recording block generation section 123 .

[0035] The ECC encoder 11 encodes main data with an error correction code (ECC). The interleaver 12 interleaves the ECC-encoded main data and generates recording blocks according to the present invention. "Interleaving" is performed to improve error correction efficiency, and it is a method for recording continuous main data physically distributed in th...

Abstract

The invention provides an optical recording medium, a data recording device and a data recording method used in the device. In a method for recording data on an optical disc, each of a plurality of error correction code (ECC) blocks is divided into a plurality of partitions. Next, the partitioned data is interleaved so that each ECC block is alternately and equally selected to generate recording blocks. The resulting recording blocks are modulated and recorded on an optical disc. As a result, there are provided an optical recording medium, a data recording device, and a data recording method used in the device, which are compatible with the format of a conventional high-density digital video disc (DVD) and have a higher error correction rate.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to error correction, and more particularly to an optical recording medium, a data recording device and a data recording method used in the device, which are capable of recording high-density data. Background technique [0002] Digital broadcasting will soon be common in many countries around the world. However, today's high-density digital video discs (DVDs) have a capacity of 4.7-10 Gbytes, so a two-hour movie (about 25 Gbytes) received through digital broadcasting cannot be recorded on one disc. As a result, there is a need for a high-density recording medium for recording movie-sized digital broadcasts. [0003] A method for reducing the size of a laser beam for recording / reading data is a typical example of a method for increasing recording density. The smaller the radius of the laser beam, the denser the information tracks for recording data are formed, thus increasing the recording d...
