Problems solved by technology

[0009] In the preparation process of conventional double-clad rare earth-doped optical fiber, the most effective method is to use low-refractive-index coatings to increase the numerical aperture of the inner cladding, but the use of low-refractive-index coatings will affect the mechanical properties of the optical fiber. Embodiment Construction

[0029] In order to explain the present invention in more detail, various embodiments of the present invention will be described below on the basis of the accompanying drawings. Below in conjunction with accompanying drawing, the present invention is described in further detail:

[0030] figure 1 It is the first embodiment of the optical fiber of the present invention, which is a double-clad ytterbium-doped photonic crystal fiber in which the holes in the second cladding are arranged in a hexagonal shape, and this ytterbium-doped photonic crystal fiber is on the core part (1) It is made by covering the first cladding layer (2), covering the second cladding layer (3) on the first cladding layer (2), and covering the protective layer (4) on the second cladding layer (3). There is a hole (5) in the center of the core (1), the diameter of which is 1 micron, and there is a hole (6) between the core (1) and the first cladding (2), and the hole is arranged in a hexagonal shape. Abstract

The invented optical fiber is formed through covering fiber core by first cladding, covering first cladding by second cladding, and covering second cladding by protection layer. Pores are possibly existed in center of the fiber core, between the fiber core and first cladding, in first cladding, and in second cladding. Fiber core is adulterated by rare earth ions. Comparing with traditional rare earth doping optical fiber, the first cladding of the invented optical fiber possesses larger numerical aperture. Thus, pump light is easier to be injected into first cladding so as to increase output power. The invention improves performances of optical fiber.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a rare-earth-doped photonic crystal fiber for fiber lasers and amplifiers, in particular to the structure and manufacturing method of the fiber. Background technique [0002] Fiber lasers are one of the hotspots in the laser field in recent years, especially the 1.55μm wavelength fiber lasers applied to fiber optic communication windows and the high-power fiber lasers used in military and industrial processing are developing more rapidly. The techniques of Q-switching and mode-locking of conventional lasers have also been introduced into fiber lasers, which not only broadens the research field of fiber lasers, but also promotes the development of laser technology. At the same output power, fiber lasers have advantages in beam quality, light transfer characteristics, reliability, and size. In addition, due to the reduction of fiber costs and the ease of streamlining and mass production, this not only attracts scientists interes...
