A drive pin 42 is powered by piston 41 by gas pressure applied to the upper surface of the piston 41, the flow of gas being regulated by a first trigger mechanism (not shown). A second, interlocking trigger mechanism is attached to a movable foot 44 so that, in order for the nailgun to operate, both trigger mechanisms must be activated. This is a well-known safety feature and prevents accidental firing of the nailgun.
