A dwarfing and high-yield planting method for grafting old bombax malabarica onto heteroceiba

PendingCN122349878AShootCambium
This invention discloses a method for grafting old kapok trees onto *Ceiba speciosa* rootstock to achieve dwarfing and high yield, relating to the field of Bombacaceae plant cultivation technology. The method includes the following steps: selecting robust, dwarfing *Ceiba speciosa* seedlings with a diameter ≥1.5cm and a height of 60-80cm as rootstock; selecting plump bud segments with a diameter of 0.8-1.2cm from the middle of 1-2 year old branches of superior 10-20 year old kapok trees as scions; and grafting the rootstock 30-40cm above the ground 15-20 days before bud break from late February to early March. Graft at 0cm, align the cambium layers and tie; when the new shoots grow to 10-15cm, untie, remove the lateral buds of the rootstock and erect supports for wind protection; cultivate an open-center crown through trunk setting and heavy winter pruning, controlling the height of mature trees to 2.5-3.5m; apply fertilizer in stages and keep the soil moist; this invention achieves the goal of controllable dwarfing, high yield and quality, early fruiting and preservation of the original edible quality of old kapok by using the core technology combination of grafting local edible old kapok onto kapok rootstock and supporting cultivation management.
