The present invention discloses a quick selecting method for frame modes in video transferring code, the method is that: firstly, based on an average absolute value of number summation about non-zero DCT coefficients in each block of current grand block, accounting the coefficients average value and the coefficients variance of the current grand block; secondly, according to the comparison of the coefficients average values and the coefficients variance with a threshold value, primarily determining the coding modes between frames; thirdly, based on the average absolute value of number summation about non-zero DCT coefficients in each block of current grand block, computing the weighted coefficients values of four blocks existed in current grand block; and finally, based on the comparison of the weighted coefficients values with the coefficients average values and the position of the block in current grand block, determining the final coding modes between frames.
