Problems solved by technology

This method is reliable because it is impossible for an invalid device to read the content key and thus cannot decrypt the encrypted content
Also, although only the encrypted content stored in the user data area can be copied to another recording medium, since the invalidation device cannot copy the content key, there is no content key on the copy destination recording medium.

[0093] First, the internal structure of a semiconductor recording medium for storing a content key will be described with reference to FIG. 1 .

[0094] The semiconductor recording medium 100 is composed of a host interface section 110 , a control section 120 and a recording area 130 . The host interface part 110 exchanges data between the semiconductor recording medium 100 and a host (for example, a data recording device or a data playback device, not shown in the figure).

[0095] On the other hand, the control section 120 internally controls the semiconductor recording medium 100 . Specifically, the control part 120 interprets a read or write command received from the host, and accesses the recording area 130 . In addition, the control section 120 also notifies the host of the result through the host interface section 110 when necessary.

[0096] The recording area 130 stores digital data. Physically, the recording area 130 is composed of a nonvolatile memory such as a f...

[0170] The first embodiment described the case where the content ID list is stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100 , but this embodiment will describe the case where the content ID list is stored in the external recording medium 200 .

[0171] FIG. 10 is a structural diagram of information stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100 and the external recording medium 200 according to the data storage method of the present embodiment. Unlike the information structure in the first embodiment shown in FIG. 3 , the content ID list 1000 is stored in the external recording medium 200 together with the content file 210 . In addition, unlike content ID list 300 in the first embodiment, content ID list 1000 includes content ID 1001 and content storage location information 1002 indicating where encrypted content 212 is stored. Note that the list is arranged by content ID 1001 as in the case of the content ID list 300 .

[0172] The data recording devices 400 and 600 and t...

[0186] The first embodiment has described the case where the content ID list 300 is stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100, and the second embodiment has described the case where the content ID list 1000 is stored in the external recording medium 200, and this embodiment As an example, the case where both lists are stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100 together with the content files will be described.

[0187] FIG. 14 is a structural diagram of information stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100 according to the data storage method of the present embodiment. In this embodiment, all information including the content file 210 is stored in the semiconductor recording medium 100 . As in the case of the first embodiment, the content ID list 300 includes a content ID 301 and content key storage location information 302 . Also, the content ID list 1000 includes content IDs 1001 and content storage location information 1002 as in the case of the second ...

Abstract

A method for performing a high-speed search for a content key associated with encrypted content for a key-separation-type content management method where content keys and pieces of encrypted content are correlated by ID information and stored in different recording media. An external recording medium stores content files including: pieces of encrypted content that are encrypted with different encryption keys; and content IDs, each associated with a corresponding piece of encryption content, and a semiconductor recording medium stores a list including: encryption key storage location information, each indicating where a corresponding encryption key is stored; and content IDs, the list sorted in accordance with the content IDs. When encrypted content is played back, the list is searched to find encryption key storage location information associated with content ID that matches the content ID of the encrypted content, and the encryption key is read based on the encryption key storage location information.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a data storage method for storing digitized content such as music, animation, and books in a recording medium, a data playback method for playing content, a data recording device using the data storage method, and a device using the data playback method A data playback device, and a recording medium used when executing the data storage method and the data playback method. Background technique [0002] There are a variety of recording media, including semiconductor recording media, magnetic disks, optical disks, and magneto-optical disks, which can be used to record various types of digital data (hereinafter, referred to as "content") such as music content, animation content, and still image content. [0003] Among recording media, semiconductor recording media in particular have the characteristics of small footprint and light weight, and thus can be used in various devices including: digital cameras, mobile phones, mo...
