The musical instrument is characterized in that: a stringing device is arranged at the head of the instrument body; a tuning peg is arranged at the tail of the instrument body; a pentatonic scale cord and a heptatonic scale cord are arranged on the two sides of a panel of the instrument body respectively; the diameters of the strings from the first to the seventh are 0.125, 0.10, 0.080, 0.065, 0.045, 0.035 and 0.025 inches respectively; and an arc-structural pickup is arranged on the instrument body. When the musical instrument is played, tuning by pentatonic scale or heptatonic scale is determined according to music at first; and after the used tuning scale is determined, the tone of the string which is required to change pitch by rotating the tuning peg clockwise or anticlockwise is tuned according to the mode required to be converted. In the novel musical instrument, the position of the tuning peg is changed to the tail of the instrument, so the tuning is convenient and quick; and the conversion between the pentatonic scale and the heptatonic scale is realized by adding the cords, so that the musical instrument combines the rich, deep and mellow advantages of a seven-stringed plucked instrument and a bass and is suitable for part music or solo.
