The method comprises the following steps that: a gray scale signal generator provides black and white window video signals, in which gray scale levels are changed according to a time sequence, for a liquid crystal display; a gray scale color analyzer detects brightness and colorimetric values of alternating gray scales of the liquid crystal display and transmits the measuring result to a microcomputer system; the microcomputer system runs automatic adjusting software of the white balance of the gray scale of the dark field, and the software processes data, analyzes the color changing conditions of different gray scales of the dark field, optimizes white balance adjusting data values of the liquid crystal display according to standard dark field color coordinates to make error of each gray scale relative to standard white field color coordinate minimum and transmits the optimized white balance adjusting data values red, green and blue CUTOFF to the liquid crystal display; and the liquid crystal display changes the color of the dark field in real time according to the received white balance adjusting data values.
