Abstract

The invention discloses a degraded image restoration method which comprises the steps of: obtaining a degraded image; establishing a mathematical model of the degraded image with respect to an atmosphere covering layer; obtaining an estimation matrix of the atmosphere covering layer for the degraded image by using singular value decomposition according to the mathematical model; calculating the atmosphere covering layer according to the estimation matrix; selecting an atmosphere optical matrix, operating to obtain a transmission coefficient matrix of the atmosphere covering layer; and solving a restored image according to the atmosphere covering layer and the transmission coefficient matrix. The mathematical model established in the degraded image restoration method includes a variable of the atmosphere covering layer, more accurate atmosphere covering layer and transmission coefficient are obtained through optimization calculation, and the restored image can have higher contrast. Whitening balance, tone mapping and gamma correction technologies are not used, but the degraded image restoration method has better local detail restoration effect on the degraded image, and better color fidelity and definition of a processing result. The invention also provides a degraded image restoration system.
