Embodiment Construction

[0031] In this document, the expression "serving cell" is recognized as the state of a UE that has completed the cell selection / reselection process and has selected a cell served by a base station (ie the serving cell) from which the UE receives available services. Furthermore, the expression "neighboring cell" denotes a cell in the vicinity of the serving cell, where a user equipment UE connected to the serving cell is able to detect transmissions from the neighboring cell. Here, the term "target cell" is a cell to which the UE will be handed over. The target cell is the cell to which the handover request message is transmitted from the serving cell. Typically, this is the cell indicated by the UE as being the strongest cell. Neighboring cells thus include the target cell and one or more other cells that may have promising transmission profiles, as will be described below, and if handover to the target cell fails Other cells can be used as backup or insurance.

Abstract

A method of radio link failure recovery for a user equipment, UE, device working in a cellular telecommunication network is disclosed, where base station of each cell periodically transmits a broadcast message including information related to needs of a UE to enable to connect to that cell. The method comprises measuring (100) signal conditions for serving cell and neighbouring cells; upon hand over event being triggered (102) from measured signal conditions, sending (104) a hand over measurement report, and storing (106) information, at least for one of the neighbouring cells, related to UE needs to enable to connect to the cell; and if hand over procedure fails (108), retrieving (110) stored information for one of the neighbouring cells such that information related to UE needs to enable to connect to the neighbouring cell is acquired and re-establishing (112) connection with the cellular telecommunication network using the acquired information. A UE device, a computer program and a radio link failure recovery controller are also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a radio link failure recovery method for a user equipment device operating in a cellular telecommunication network, such a user equipment device and a radio link failure recovery controller for such a user equipment device. The invention also relates to a computer program for implementing such a method. Background technique [0002] For cellular telecommunication networks with base stations per cell (eg, 3GPP LTE networks), radio link failure (RLF) performance as well as handover performance is evaluated in challenging mobility scenarios. In particular, scenarios where handover failures occur, ie handover signaling is not transmitted with a desired success rate, are a burdensome task. A challenging scenario involving users moving at high speeds is the so-called "High Speed Train Scenario". The scenario involves a user traveling at 350 km / h in a heavily loaded network consisting of large cells. Another cha...
