Abstract

The invention discloses a method for managing a buffer memory in a memory storage device, and the buffer memory is configured in the memory storage device which is provided with a programmable and non-volatile memory module. The method comprises the following step of transmitting temporarily-stored data which is temporarily stored in the buffer memory into the buffer area of the programmable and non-volatile memory module by a pre-programmed command group, wherein the temporarily-stored data can not be programmed into the storage area of the programmable and non-volatile memory module. The method further comprises the steps of releasing a storage space in the buffer memory for storing the temporarily-stored data; and re-loading the temporarily-stored data from the buffer area to the storage space of the buffer memory. According to the method, a usable storage space of the buffer memory can be temporarily added so as to meet the requirement of extra operation. The invention further discloses a memory controller and a memory storage device.
