For the purpose of measuring a local magnetic property distribution in a steel plate stably even when a variation in an amount of liftoff occurs, a magnetic property measurement method comprises: a step of acquiring beforehand, as normal part liftoff data, a relationship (Ls(l)) between an output of a magneto-sensitive element at a normal part of a subject to be measured beforehand and an amount of liftoff of the magneto-sensitive element; a step of acquiring beforehand, as defective part liftoff data, a relationship (Lp(l)) between an output of the magneto-sensitive element at a defective part of the subject to be measured beforehand and an amount of liftoff of the magneto-sensitive element; a measurement step of measuring an output (x) of the magneto-sensitive element at a subject and an amount of liftoff (l) of the magneto-sensitive element when the output (x) is obtained; and a correction step of performing an operation for correcting the output (x) of the magneto-sensitive element at the subject measured in the measurement step, by using the normal part liftoff data, the defective part liftoff data, and the amount of liftoff measured in the measurement step.
