The routing forwarding method comprises the following steps: a content request packet, which carries a content name of a request content and container information of the request content, is received; whether a forwarding entry which matches the content name of the request content exists in FIB is determined; whether a forwarding entry which matches a container sign in the container information exists in the FIB is determined when a forwarding entry which matches the content name of the request content doesn't exist in the FIB; and the content request packet is sent according to an interface in the matched forwarding entry when the forwarding entry which matches the container sign in the container information of the request content exists in the FIB. According to the embodiment of the invention, by increasing the container information based on the content name, dependence of routing forwarding on the content name can be minimized. Thus, it is possible to reduced routing table entries in a routing table, and it makes possible to solve problems such as route extension and the like which are caused by the content name.
