Abstract

The invention discloses a method and device for downloading application program files. The method comprises that a file server caches application program files in an internal memory, wherein the application program files are requested to be downloaded by a terminal built in the same internal network of the file server and the file server provides application program file download service for the terminal; the file server selects the application program files cached in the internal memory according to a downloading, accessing, creating, or updating behavior, performed by the terminal, on the application program files; the file server receives a downloading request transmitted from the terminal via the internal network for downloading the application program files; and the file server extracts the application program files requested to be downloaded from the internal network of the file server and returns the application program files to the terminal. The method and the device may improve the downloading efficiency of the file server, reduce access to a disk, prolong the service life of the disk, and improve the performance of the file server.
