Embodiment Construction

[0035] Methods, systems and devices for supporting common reference signaling in a wireless communication system are provided. For example, in some configurations a phase discontinuity may be introduced between common reference signal (CRS) transmissions on different subframes. This can solve problems that may arise when a reduced CRS period can be used. An indicator indicating whether phase continuation can be adopted may also be sent from the base station to the user equipment (UE). Some configurations may support CRS sequence initialization. These tools and techniques can use extended CRS sequence periods, which can increase the number of CRS sequences sent by a cell.

[0036] While these tools and techniques may have general applicability to different wireless communication systems, the disclosed methods, systems and devices may be particularly useful with New Carrier Types (NCTs). For example, NCT may use a CRS period reduced to one subframe every 5 ms on a single ante...

Abstract

A method, system and apparatus for supporting common reference signaling in a wireless communication system are described. Some configurations introduce phase discontinuities between Common Reference Signal (CRS) transmissions on different subframes. This can solve problems that may arise when using a reduced CRS period. An indicator may also be sent from the base station to the user equipment (UE) to indicate whether phase continuity can be assumed. Some configurations may support CRS sequence initialization. These tools and techniques can use extended CRS sequence periods, which can increase the number of CRS sequences sent by a cell.

Description

[0001] cross reference [0002] This patent application claims the benefit of U.S. Patent Application No. 14 / 162,484, filed January 23, 2014, by Damnjanovic et al., entitled "Common Reference Signal Phase Discontinuity and Sequence Initialization" and filed January 2013 by Damnjanovic et al. Priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 757,008, filed on the 25th, entitled "Methods, Systems, and Devices for Common Reference Signal Phase Discontinuity and Sequence Initialization," which has been assigned to the assignee of the present application. Background technique [0003] The following relates generally to wireless communications, and more specifically to systems, devices, and methods for using common reference signals for wireless channels of wireless communications systems. Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, and so on. These systems may be ...
