Abstract

A circuit for any of a transceiver, transmitter, and receiver, the circuit having RF circuitry (70), digital circuitry (30, 250, 260), carrier signal generator (80), and clock generation and a generator (90), the carrier signal generator for providing a carrier signal to the RF circuit, the clock generator for generating a digital clock for clocking at least some of the digital circuits. The clock generator obtains the frequency of the digital clock based on a frequency obtained by down-dividing the frequency of the carrier signal, so that interference to the RF circuit occurs at a specific frequency. These disturbances may be more easily compensated for, or may be arranged to have frequencies far enough away from the useful part of the RF signal that they may be more easily filtered out.

Description

technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to a circuit for use in any of a transceiver, receiver and transmitter. Background technique

[0002] The rapid worldwide spread of modern cellular communication systems has been driven primarily by three factors: standardization, cost, and performance. The availability of common communication standards promulgated by organizations such as 3GPP enables manufacturers to produce a single product for the global market. The lower cost of cellular communications is largely due to the high level of functional integration achievable with modern microchip technology and the size of the global market that provides manufacturers with significant economies of scale. High performance in cellular communications can be achieved by exploiting the functional capabilities of modern semiconductor technologies.

[0003] Functional integration in radio transceivers has increased, bringing the analog and digital functions of the radio transc...

Embodiment Construction

[0041] The present invention will be described in conjunction with particular embodiments and with reference to certain drawings but the invention is not limited thereto but only by the claims. The drawings described are only schematic and not restrictive. In the drawings, the size of some elements may be exaggerated and not drawn on scale for illustrative purposes. Where the term "comprising" is used in the present description and claims, it does not exclude other elements or steps. Where an indefinite or definite article is used when referring to a singular noun eg "a" or "the", this includes a plural of that noun unless stated otherwise.

[0042] The term "comprising", used in the claims, should not be interpreted as being restricted to the elements listed thereafter, the term does not exclude other elements or steps. Therefore, the scope of the expression "the device comprises components A and B" should not be limited to a device consisting of components A and B only. T...
