The invention discloses a picture capturing method and system. The method comprises the following steps that: data interfaces of a plurality of task servers receive picture capturing requests; the plurality of task servers generate picture capturing tasks according to the picture capturing requests which are received by the plurality of task servers respectively, and store the picture capturing tasks; a scheduling server acquires the picture capturing tasks from the plurality of task servers, and stores the acquired picture capturing tasks as a total task queue; the scheduling server extracts the picture capturing tasks from the total task queue according to a preset rule, and allocates the extracted picture capturing tasks to the plurality of task servers; and the plurality of task servers capture pictures according to the allocated picture capturing tasks. According to the scheme, uniform scheduling is performed on the picture capturing tasks received by different task servers, so that the capturing tasks on the plurality of task servers can be balanced; system resources are utilized fully; the pending or delay processing of the picture capturing tasks is avoided; the capturing efficiency is increased; and waiting time is shortened.
