The algorithm comprises the following steps: converting an iris image to an HSV space, blocking the image at a V channel and carrying out nonlinear brightness enhancing operation on each block; carrying out convolution by utilizing multiscale Gaussian functions, and carrying out nonlinear operation on the convolution result and the brightness enhancing result to realize contrast enhancement; and synthesizing the enhanced V channel image and the original H and S color information to obtain the final image.
