Abstract

The present invention provides a wideband tunable combiner system for a dual frequency diversity transmitter comprising a tunable capacitor network. The system can be utilized to combine incoherent RF signals with the same audio signal into a combined RF signal for transmission on an antenna. The tunable capacitive network in conjunction with the combiner and bandpass filter can optimize the isolation between the incoherent RF signals and reduce intermodulation while maintaining a wide operating bandwidth. The capacitance value of the tunable capacitive network may be selected based on the frequency of the incoherent RF signal, RF spectral information, or antenna loading data. RF transmitters including the tunable combiner system can have improved spectral efficiency and performance and utilize available spectrum.
