Abstract

The invention relates to a method for monitoring the quality of air in a passenger compartment (24) of a vehicle (10), and the method enables the air quality to remain above a predetermined threshold or exceeds the latter again, wherein the vehicle (10) has an air quality sensing device (26) for sensing the air quality in the passenger compartment (24) and in the surroundings of the vehicle (10), and an air quality changing device (34) for changing the air quality in a passenger compartment (24) of the vehicle (10). The method comprises the following steps: preparing a precursor; wherein the air quality in the passenger compartment (24) and in the surroundings of the vehicle (10) is sensed by means of an air quality sensing device (34), in the event that the air quality in the passenger compartment (24) of the vehicle falls below a predetermined threshold value, the air quality in the passenger compartment (24) of the vehicle (10) is changed by means of an air quality changing device (34) such that the air quality in the passenger compartment (24) rises above the predetermined threshold value.
