The invention provides a method for enabling low-version software to be compatible with a high-version file. The method comprises the steps that information transmission is conducted between a receiver and a sender through a cloud server; the cloud server retrieves whether the cloud server has an editing program or not every time the cloud server obtains one transmission file; if not, retrieving and installing; and for a high-version transmission file which cannot be compatible with the receiver, the cloud server converts the file into a low version according to the application of the receiverand then resends the low version to the receiver. According to the invention, when the receiver cannot be compatible with the transmission file, the transmission file of a lower version can be obtained through the cloud server. Thus, the receiver is ensured to receive the effective file, the limitation that the receiver and the sender receive the version of the application program in an information exchange manner is avoided, and the work independence of the receiving terminal and the sending terminal is ensured. Meanwhile, by limiting the analysis object range of the cloud server, the cloudserver is prevented from analyzing illegally obtained files, and the safety of network data is ensured.
