Embodiment 1

[0057] A method for evaluating the total organic carbon content of mudstone using the effective medium theory described in the present invention has been used in secrecy.

[0058] In this example, taking Well X of a certain oilfield block as the object to be studied, a method for evaluating the total organic carbon content of mudstone is proposed, including:

[0059] (1) Establish a calculation model for evaluating the organic carbon content of mudstone

[0060] As we all know, the main component of reservoir rocks is usually non-conductive mineral framework (quartz, feldspar, etc.), with less mud content, generally less than 20%, and the pores are composed of conductive formation water and non-conductive hydrocarbons. However, the lithology of source rocks is usually dominated by mudstone. In its rock composition, shale is the main component, and the relative content of non-conductive framework particles is significantly lower than that of reservoirs. Non-conductive organic m...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for evaluating the total organic carbon content of mudstone by using an effective medium theory. The method comprises the following steps: 1, establishing a calculation model for evaluating the organic carbon content of mudstone; 2, determining the shale content, the porosity and the volume fraction of non-conductive skeleton particles in the calculation model; 3,selecting a representative mudstone section rock core sample according to the rock core and logging data, and carrying out whole rock XRD diffraction, porosity determination and rock pyrolysis experiments on the rock core sample; 4, determining undetermined parameters in a total organic carbon content calculation model according to the experimental result; and 5, solving the volume fraction of the organic component according to a binary iterative algorithm, and solving the organic carbon content of the mudstone by combining the conversion relationship between the volume fraction of the organic component and the total organic carbon content. The method for evaluating the mudstone organic matter content in the whole well section is established and used for conducting quantitative predictionand effective comprehensive evaluation on the sedimentary basin hydrocarbon source rock quality.

Description

Technical field: [0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of hydrocarbon source rock evaluation, in particular to a method for evaluating the total organic carbon content of mudstone using the effective medium theory. Background technique: [0002] Conventional source rock sample analysis can only determine the microscopic characteristics of source rock samples, but cannot accurately reflect the vertical change characteristics of source rocks in the entire well interval, especially in sedimentary basins where source rock samples are scarce. In exploration, the lack of samples makes the evaluation of source rocks more difficult. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a method to effectively predict and evaluate the total organic carbon content of source rocks in the whole well interval. [0003] Effective medium theory is a macroscopic model for inhomogeneous media proposed based on analytical, numerical, and experimental techniques, and is a common tool f...
