Problems solved by technology

However, due to the layered structure of the above-mentioned devices, the installation of the mold is often difficult
In the case of low-viscosity solutions, even after installation, the original vertically oriented part of the mold in use can cause serious leakage problems from the substrate
Especially for expensive reagent materials, such leakage problems are very economically disadvantageous
And this leakage can also cause another variable in solution handling, making bandwidth and thickness uniformity more difficult

Embodiment

[0079] For the use of test strips or otherwise, the following results can be observed according to the present invention. For solutions of the invention having the attributes of the preferred solutions described above, deposition was performed on a Pd-coated plastic tape moving at a speed of 25 ft / min. Coating tests were performed in triplicate with different molds and at three feet Start, midpoint, end measurements on the tape section where the three foot tape was produced in the middle of the 15 second production process. At each die setup, set the fluid parameters and die / strip spacing to obtain the most constant solution tape coating results. In order to obtain a stable bandwidth change indication, the sample was dried under the same conditions using the above-mentioned "solution drying system". Measurements were then made by the Avant Vision Measurement System produced by Optical Gaging Products (Rochester, NY).

Abstract

A system for depositing strips on a substrate. The substrate preferably consists of a strip of material mounted on support rollers and passed through a specially constructed mold. The mold includes at least one mouth having a lip extending beyond the body or surface of the mold. The mold prevents fluid leakage. Preferably, the upper and lower body portions of the mold in which the mouth is formed are substantially flat and mirror-image opposed to each other. The lip is preferably located close to the substrate strip where the solution is deposited. The solution passes through the mouth of the mold to the belt and settles on the belt in the form of a ribbon of essentially constant thickness. The solution is usually a reagent solution. The solution coating is typically dried on the substrate. The dried product can be used in the production of reagent test strips.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of the Chinese patent application (National Application No. 02151575.1) with the filing date of November 27, 2002, entitled "System for Distributing Solution in Strips". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to a method for depositing a chemical composition in solution on a substrate. The invention is particularly suitable for depositing a solution to be dried on a substrate which is then used to manufacture reagent test strips. Background of the invention [0003] Analyte detection assays show that the results of these tests play an important role in diagnostic analysis in applications that include use in various clinical laboratory tests, home tests, etc. These more common analytes include glucose, alcohol, formaldehyde, L-glutamic acid, glycerol, galactose, polysaccharide proteins, creatinine, ketones, vitamin C, lactic acid, leucine, malic acid, py...
