Abstract

A system for depositing strips on a substrate. The substrate preferably consists of a strip of material mounted on support rollers and passed through a specially constructed mold. The mold includes at least one mouth having a lip extending beyond the body or surface of the mold. The mold prevents fluid leakage. Preferably, the upper and lower body portions of the mold in which the mouth is formed are substantially flat and mirror-image opposed to each other. The lip is preferably located close to the substrate strip where the solution is deposited. The solution passes through the mouth of the mold to the belt and settles on the belt in the form of a ribbon of essentially constant thickness. The solution is usually a reagent solution. The solution coating is typically dried on the substrate. The dried product can be used in the production of reagent test strips.
