Abstract

A thread winding housing (25) serves for inserting into a housing receptacle of a gripper body (22), rotatable about a vertical axis, of a gripper (21) of a sewing machine. The thread winding housing (25) has a housing pot (33) for accommodating a thread winding with a thread (27). Serving to cover the thread winding is a housing cover (34). The latter has a first, bottom cover layer (36) with a central guide eye for the thread to pass through. A second, top cover layer (41) at least partly covers the first cover layer (36) in the region of a thread guide. A thread brake (65) interacts with a thread guide section (64). The housing cover (34) is pivotably linked to the housing pot (33) and is connected to the latter. This results in a thread winding housing which simplifies the insertion of the thread winding with good operational reliability and availability of the sewing machine.
