The invention discloses a media control method and system in an IMS (IP multimedia subsystem), and the method comprises: an MCF (multicore framework) or a media control parsing entity set in the IMS receives an SIP message used for controlling the media service and sent by a user terminal concerning to requested media service, and maps the SIP message to a corresponding RTSP (real time streaming protocol) command or parses out the RTSP command from the SIP message according to a mapping relation between the SIP message and the RTSP command; then, the RTSP command obtained through mapping and parsing is sent to an MDF (main distribution frame), wherein the SIP message received by the media control parsing entity is sent to the media control parsing entity after the MCF receives the SIP message sent by the user terminal; and the MDF controls the media service requested by the user terminal according to the received RTSP command. According to the invention, media interactive control between the user terminal and a network side on the premise of not damaging completeness of the RTSP protocol can be supported.
