[0022] The present disclosure relates to delivering electrical stimulation, such as vagus nerve stimulation, to modulate the atrioventricular segment (AV segment) of a patient's heart. The electrical stimulation may block conduction of depolarization through the AV node to the ventricle, but in general any stimulation that improves conduction of the AV node may be included. Vagal nerve stimulation may modulate the cardiac autonomic nervous system, for example, by increasing parasympathetic nervous system activity, thereby reducing ventricular rate in response to conducted atrial tachycardia by impeding the propagation of atrial signals through the AV node to the ventricles.
