Abstract

The invention discloses a catalyst for preparing 2-methyltetrahydrofuran from 2-methylfuran through gas phase hydrogenation and a preparation method of the catalyst. The preparation method comprises the following steps: dissolving soluble Ni salt or Ni salt and alkali metal/alkaline-earth metal in a water solution; then dropwise adding into silica sol, and stirring and evaporating a solvent; after the solvent is evaporated, further drying, forming and roasting in a drying oven to finally prepare a NiO/SiO2 catalyst, wherein the mass percentage of NiO is 20-40, the mass percentage of carrier SiO2 is 60-80, and the mass percentage of alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal oxide aids is 2-10. Non-precious metal nickel is adopted, the reaction temperature is not high, and the pressure is low, so that the cost is reduced, resources are saved, main products also contain 2-amyl alcohol besides the 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, the number of other byproducts is extremely small, and the catalyst is high in stability.
