The method comprises the following steps: obtaining and storing a current-frame image signal; calculating a similarity value between the current-frame image signal and a previous-frame image signal; and based on the similarity value, according to a preset relation between a similarity value and a screen refreshing frequency, obtaining the screen refreshing frequency for the current-frame image signal. According to the invention, the screen refreshing frequency becomes adjustable, power consumption of a display device can be effectively reduced, and this has a great promotion effect on improvement of quality and competitiveness of a display product.
