The mobile terminal comprises multiple fingerprint scanning modules and multiple distance detection modules; the fingerprint scanning modules are associated with at least one distance detection module; the superposition of scanning regions of the fingerprint scanning modules covers a touch screen of themobile terminal; and the superposition of detection regions of the distance detection modules covers the touch screen. The method comprises the steps of detecting a distance between an operation object and the touch screen; and when at least one of the distance detection modules detects that the distance between the operation object and the touch screen is smaller than a predetermined distance threshold, providing an arousing instruction for the associated fingerprint scanning module, wherein the arousing instruction is used for instructing the associated fingerprint scanning module to entera working mode. When it is detected that the operation object is close to the touch screen, part of the fingerprint scanning modules are pointedly aroused for performing fingerprint scanning processing on part of the regions, so that the purposes of reducing the power consumption required for full screen fingerprint scanning and increasing the speed of the full screen fingerprint scanning are achieved.
