Abstract

The invention provides a cell selection method and device. For the condition that the strength of a wireless network signal is weak, that is to say, the receiving power of a reference signal of a resident cell does not meet a first judgment threshold, the interference size of the resident cell is determined by judging whether or not the signal to noise ratio of the resident cell reaches a preset triggering judgment threshold, and if the interference size meets the condition, it is regarded that user equipment still can achieve a high transmission speed in the resident cell and can ensure conventional data transmission. The method and device are used for prolonging the time when the user equipment is located in the current resident cell and increasing the utilization rate of the resident cell. The method comprises the steps that when the receiving power of the reference signal does not reach the preset first judgment threshold, whether or not the signal to noise ratio of the resident cell reaches the preset triggering judgment threshold is determined; if yes, the user equipment continues to be resident in the resident cell; and otherwise, the user equipment is switched to other cells.
