The method comprises the following steps of creating a template document in a dot format, performing insertion point marking on contents needed to be self-defined by a user, organizing the marked template document in the dot format to form an XML label set, constructing an XML structure tree, and traversingmarking nodes of the XML structure tree to construct a label array containing label attributes; and according to the label array and the attributes of the labels, forming a user input interface for the user to input to-be-inserted contents, storing the completed inserted contents in the XML structure tree in a node value form, traversing the XML structure tree again, and searching for and inserting label values in the template document in the dot format to form a new document template. According to the automatic document generating method, a program code is matched with different template format description files, and document files based on any template can be generated in batches, so that the flexibility and reliability of document generation are improved.
