Problems solved by technology

In this way, both devices need to send and receive BFD packets independently. Since the detection interval of BFD is short (less than a second level, it can provide millisecond or even microsecond level convergence), the CPU burden of the device is increased.
Moreover, due to the high frequency of packet sending, if the number of BFD detection applications between devices is large, it will cause network link congestion and affect the normal communication between links.

Embodiment Construction

[0024] Reference will now be made in detail to the exemplary embodiments, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. When the following description refers to the accompanying drawings, the same numerals in different drawings refer to the same or similar elements unless otherwise indicated. The implementations described in the following exemplary examples do not represent all implementations consistent with this specification. Rather, they are merely examples of apparatuses and methods consistent with aspects of the present specification as recited in the appended claims.

[0025] The terms used in this specification are for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the specification. As used in this specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a", "the", and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. It should also be understood that the t...

Abstract

The invention provides a dual-stack BFD detection method and a dual-stack BFD detection system. The system comprises a first device and a second device, and a plurality of IPV4 BFD sessions and a plurality of IPV6 BFD sessions are operated between the first device and the second device. The method comprises the steps of detecting whether one IPV4 BFD session and one IPV6 BFD session share the sameport of the first device and the same port of the second device or not, and if yes, associating the IPV4 BFD session with the IPV6 BFD session; if the two BFD sessions associated with each other areboth in the UP state, combining the messages corresponding to the two sessions, that is, sending the BFD messages packaged twice through the IPV4 protocol and the IPV6 protocol to the second device; and using the second device to decapsulate the encapsulated BFD message twice to obtain a BFD message, and then performing IPV4 BFD session processing and IPV6 BFD session processing respectively. Dueto the combining processing of the session messages, the number of the messages can be reduced to 1 / 2 of the number of the messages in the original technical scheme, so that the network congestion ona communication link can be reduced.

Description

technical field [0001] This specification relates to the communication field, and in particular to a dual-stack BFD detection method and system. Background technique [0002] BFD: Bidirectional Forwarding Detection, bidirectional forwarding detection, is a general network detection mechanism. BFD provides type-independent fault detection between network devices, and realizes fast detection (less than a second level) that some common routing protocols cannot provide, so it is widely used in network devices. The combination of BFD detection mechanism and other module functions can quickly detect network faults and provide functions such as fast network link switching. Currently, BFD can be applied to both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. [0003] Dual stack, Dual Stack, enable IPV4 protocol stack and IPV6 protocol stack on one device at the same time. Due to the depletion of IPV4 addresses, the deployment of IPV6 networks becomes inevitable. However, due to the complexity of the cu...
