Problems solved by technology

At this stage, the decompressor cannot properly decompress packets other than IR / IR-DYN packets, and will therefore continue to transmit NACKs to the compressor

Abstract

A compressor may obtain information indicative of a transmit delay representative of a time duration that elapses between creation (e.g. by the compressor) of a packet and the transmission of the packet, e.g. over a wireless link. The transmit delay may be determined based at least on information indicative of the uplink capacity of the cellular network. The uplink capacity may be determined / obtained based on the uplink throughput and uplink power headroom. When the compressor receives a negative acknowledgement transmission / packet from the de-compressor, if the transmit delay is not greater than a specified threshold value, the compressor may process the received negative acknowledgement packet. If the transmit delay is greater than the specified threshold value, the compressor may firstdiscard the buffered compressed packet scheduled to be transmitted next to the de-compressor, and transmit an initialization and refresh (IR) or IR dynamic packet to the de-compressor instead.

Description

technical field [0001] This patent application relates to wireless communications, and more particularly to compression state (eg, ROHC state) synchronization during wireless communications. Background technique [0002] The use of wireless communication systems is growing rapidly. In recent years, wireless devices such as smartphones and tablets have become increasingly sophisticated. In addition to supporting phone calls, many mobile devices now provide access to the Internet, e-mail, text messaging, and navigation using the Global Positioning System (GPS), and are capable of operating sophisticated applications that take advantage of these capabilities. [0003] Long Term Evolution (LTE) has become the technology of choice for most wireless network operators around the world, providing mobile broadband data and high-speed Internet access to their subscriber base. The next telecommunications standard proposed to go beyond the current International Mobile Telecommunicatio...
